Meet David

Founder & Head Trainer of South Bay K9

Since 2012, I’ve dedicated my career to helping dogs and their owners build stronger relationships through clear communication, structure, and proven training methods. My passion for dog training began at an early age and was shaped by my father, Bob, who has professionally trained and bred dogs throughout Los Angeles since the early 1980s.

At South Bay K9, I specialize in obedience training, behavior modification, aggression rehabilitation, puppy development, off-leash reliability, service dog training, and Board & Train programs. Every dog is unique, which is why I create customized training plans that focus on building confidence, trust, and lasting results in real-world environments.

Over the years, I’ve worked with dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments—from energetic puppies to reactive and aggressive dogs—helping families across Los Angeles and the South Bay enjoy calmer, more confident companions. My mission is simple: to give every owner the knowledge and tools needed to build a lifelong partnership with their dog.

The Foundation of South Bay K9

South Bay K9 was built on a family legacy of excellence in dog training and responsible breeding. In the early 1980s, Bob began his career as a professional dog trainer in Los Angeles, later dedicating himself to breeding exceptional German Shepherds and Rottweilers with an unwavering commitment to quality, temperament, and working ability.

 

Through years of experience, Bob recognized that many dogs were being bred without proper standards, resulting in poor structure, unstable temperaments, fearfulness, and inconsistent working ability. His mission became clear: to produce healthy, confident, and well-balanced dogs that could thrive as loyal family companions, working dogs, and lifelong partners.

 

Inspired by the rigorous German breeding philosophy, Bob emphasized selecting dogs based on key qualities, including temperament, intelligence, courage, structure, and overall health. Only dogs that met these high standards were considered suitable for breeding, ensuring each generation reflected the qualities expected of the breed.

 

Today, South Bay K9 continues that tradition. Our German Shepherds and Rottweilers come from carefully selected European bloodlines, allowing us to provide families with dogs that are intelligent, stable, trainable, and bred with purpose. That commitment to quality remains at the heart of everything we do.
